Thermo Scientific CryoStar NX70 Cryostat in Excellent Condition -- Refurbished & Performs to Specification
Fully serviced and verified to meet manufacturer specifications across the board, this CryoStar NX70 (Type HOMVPD) will prove to be an excellent investment for any histology lab. Upon receiving this NX70, we found a leak in the refrigeration system caused by a broken connection on a coupling. After fixing the leak, we then performed a pressure test and complete refrigeration evacuation. At the end of the evacuation we refilled the lines with Tyfoxit 50 fluid. Finally, we oiled the slides on the microtome.
Because we flushed the cooling fluid system, another flush won't be needed for about three more years.
After servicing this NX70, we tested the following features:

To ensure the refrigeration is operating at manufacturer specification, our technician performs a full evacuation of the refrigeration system and refills it with new refrigerant. The recharge process involves the following:
- Vent system of refrigerant
- Apply 250-micron vacuum to test for leaks, remove debris, and boil off moisture in lines
- Nitrogen purge three times to clear lines for preventative maintenance
- Refill system with new refrigerant
- Confirm system is operating to manufacturer specification
