The camera has a grade 1, thinned, back-illuminated CCD chip mounted in a light tight case. The chip is cooled to -45 C to minimize dark current (thermal) noise. The chip has an imaging area of 24.6mm x 24.6mm, or 1024 by 1024 pixels, for high resolution imaging. The CCD chip is most sensitive to light emitted in the red region. A problem with the use of standard lens types for imaging systems is that shadowing can occur in wells which are away from the centre of the imaging field. For the Leadseeker this has been overcome by an innovative lens design, the telecentric Borealis lens. This design captures light more efficiently from the full area of the plate, greatly reducing the effect of shadowing thus giving more reliable results. (Excerpt from the manufacturer website)
This instrument was not tested for functionality, but there are no signs of damage or extensive wear. The camera is one super-size so this will be shipped freight or for Pickup.
