Our Testing Process
1. Our freeze dryer technician visually inspects each unit on arrival, and a performance test follows to see how well the unit is operating.
2. We clean the unit's interior and exterior using a dry ice blasting method, which effectively removes buildup and contaminants.
3. The freeze dryer technician checks the ambient pressures of the high and low side compressors, if applicable. They then conduct a functional test of the refrigeration circuit to confirm that the unit cools in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.
4. Air-cooled units use fans and a single condenser to remove heat from the system. We inspect and clean the condenser to ensure proper airflow. Meanwhile, water-cooled units use facility water or a stand-alone chiller to dissipate heat from the refrigeration circuit. The freeze dryer technician inspects the water circuit for leaks and verifies its proper operation.
5. We flush and refill the oil of rotary vane vacuum pumps. We also inspect and calibrate oil-free scroll vacuum pumps accordingly.
6. Experts clean, inspect and regrease the valves of benchtop and floor model freeze dryers equipped with tree and drum manifolds, ensuring proper sealing and functionality.
7. To verify accurate readings and proper performance on non-Lyo software units, freeze dry technicians calibrate the unit's temperature sensors.
8. We inspect door seals and other critical components, and we replace them if needed.
9. Our freeze dry technicians reinsulate refrigeration lines. They also inspect all vacuum hoses and replace them when needed to ensure proper system integrity.
10. If the unit features software, the technician conducts various functionality tests, such as checking the minimum and maximum achievable temperatures.
11. The freeze dryer technician verifies that the stoppering mechanism, if present, and isolation valves are functioning properly.
Note: Our team tests isolation valves, the component that prevents air leaks within the system, to verify proper sealing of the unit during operation, heating, and defrost cycles.
12. If needed, we also repaint and redecal to make all units presentable.
