Our Testing Process
1. The freeze dryer is visually inspected on arrival, and then a performance test is initiated to see how well the unit operates.
2. We use a dry ice blasting method to clean the interior and exterior of the unit, removing buildup and contaminants.
3. The freeze dryer technician checks the ambient pressures of the high and low side compressors, if applicable. They also perform a functional test of the refrigeration circuit to verify that the unit is cooling in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.
4. Air-cooled units use a condenser and fans to remove heat from the system. Our team inspects and cleans the condenser to ensure proper airflow. Water-cooled units use facility water or a stand-alone chiller to dissipate heat from the refrigeration circuit. We inspect the water circuit for leaks and verify its proper operation.
5. For rotary vane vacuum pumps, we flush and refill the oil. We also inspect and calibrate scroll, oil-free vacuum pumps accordingly.
6. For benchtop and floor model freeze dryers equipped with tree and drum manifolds, we clean, inspect and regrease the valves to ensure proper sealing and functionality.
7. Freeze dry technicians calibrate the unit's temperature sensors to ensure accurate readings and proper performance on non-Lyo software units.
8. Our team inspects door seals and other critical components and replaces them as needed.
9. Freeze dryer technicians reinsulate refrigeration lines and inspect all vacuum hoses, replacing them if needed, to ensure proper system integrity.
10. If the unit includes software, the freeze dryer technician runs functionality tests, including checking the minimum and maximum achievable temperatures.
11. The freeze dryer technician verifies that the stoppering mechanism, if present, and isolation valves are functioning correctly.
Note: We conduct mandatory tests on isolation valves to verify proper sealing during operation, heating and defrost cycles.
12. We repaint and redecal the unit where necessary to ensure a professional appearance.
