Round-bottom, plain-top (capless) centrifuge tubes have been chemically strengthened to achieve a greater mechanical strength than standard borosilicate centrifuge tubes (manufactured from borosilicate glass 5.1). Tubes can withstand up to 13,100×g when used with the correct accessory rubber adapter sleeve in a 50 mL rotor cavity (JA-20 or SS-34 rotor).
